Helium Arts is the national children’s arts and health charity. They provide free creative art workshops in community venues throughout Ireland, as well as online and in hospitals for children and young people aged 6-15 years living with lifelong physical health conditions that require ongoing medical support. Examples of conditions include diabetes, epilepsy, cystic fibrosis, allergies, heart conditions, chronic asthma, spina bifida, juvenile arthritis, rare or complex conditions and many more.

Living with a lifelong physical health condition can be hard.  Children can face loneliness, stress, anxiety, and feel defined by their condition.  Helium Arts works to improve the wellbeing of these young people.  Their workshops offer young people a chance to explore their creativity and grow in confidence while making friends and having fun along the way in a safe, inclusive, accessible and supportive environment.  All of Helium Arts’ workshops are supported by professional artists, volunteers and on-site medical care.   

 Activities at the workshops are young person led and can include anything from visual arts and painting to animation, puppetry, clay modeling, shadow play and more… 

 How To Get Involved 

Is your child age 6-15 and living with a lifelong physical health condition? Then, simply follow the steps below. 

Step1:  Fill in the self-referral form here to register your interest in Helium Arts 

Step 2: We’ll get in touch to say ‘hello’ and make sure that Helium Arts is the right fit 

Step 3: Once eligibility is confirmed, you can go to the Helium Arts website to find a workshop and sign up to take part
